Many patchers are claiming other projects like they were the ones made it and disregard the original maker..... thats sad but hey PUBLIC loves it and thats sucks!!!!...
Excuse me Charles Robles, but why would DuBam ask your permission to use your global? YOU DIDNT EVEN HAVE A GODDAMN GLOBAL. Your global was not entirely yours. It was from JohnDoe22 that you stole and published in moddingway. Anyways, good day :)
I beleive it's our job, as a fan, to report something like this to you and to the site where them thieves posted it to prevent it from happening again. Right, guys? It's the least that we could do. AFAIK, DuBam is the only patcher who stole something from Flesh Mod and release it. Oh, and Nhik-Gen who I think was just trying to annoy JD because of the rejection he has got for his effects lol.
Guys, this has happened before. Why can't we learn from it? A lot of these original and hard-working patchers had left us in the past because of this same exact reason. How hard is it to respect their works? How hard is it to not release our edited version which is based off of their works? I, myself have an edited version but chose not to share it to show respect to the original author. If fame is all you want, you've got to learn how to do this kinda things from scratch and don't ever give-up like this 2 modding studs right here. You think JD and SJ got this far by using others works and importing and exporting some shits to it and re-release it? A big NO is the answer. Start from 0 and work your ass up to 100 like this guys.
funny to see people talk about " copyright law" and " no claim fame".But then, why you pubblish a work by another that clearly says: do not share my work? lol
I don't even know why JD is so butthurt when he does not have a claim on that file. Nor will he ever have. Did he ask for permission from 2K to edit the files? Nope. Should he forbid others to edit "his" files? Nope. Because he does not have claim on them and they are property of 2K.
you have confused ideas on autorship law and modding comunity. you're right, the file is covered by copyright law by 2k but there is a big difference between edit and pubblish. Every modder when pubblish a file covered by copyright, in fact is violating the copyright but no game company will never denunce a modder for copyright violation...for obvious reasons, it would be like putting the hoe on their feet. JD don't want to pubblish the file, JD don't want to pubblish his work included on the file, there is a big difference. Every modder can put the copyrigh on his work..just pay to protect " the product of your mind". Modding comunity have their rules, usually the open source rules..but people confuse Open Source rules to " Do as you like rules". So, JD don't want to pubblish his work into other places...why you don't want respect his rule? why you feel the need to pubblish his work to improve the game? if you want to improve the game with no claim fame or popularity you can edit it privately. do you want to improve the game in pubblic? pick the original file and work on it with your mind, not with another.
I respect his decision not to publish in NLSC...but I don't get why is he so butthurt when people use his global as base AND give him credit. Doing so is the best thing someone can say about your work. I don't get him. He is such a jerk that I don't even want to use his global. I'd rather use CAM and/or JD.

ReplyDeleteIf every user has a mind/thoughts like yours, the modding scene will be dead.
